Common Boiler Repairs We See in Our Area

If you have a boiler, you know that it makes an excellent heating system. But it doesn’t mean that boilers are not without problems from time to time. The trick to staying ahead of boiler problems is to identify them early enough that you can address them before they worsen.

You can keep reading to learn more about four common boiler repair needs so that you’ll be able to schedule service for your boiler sooner rather than later. Just give our team a call to schedule boiler repair in Chicago when you think something is wrong with your boiler.

Leaks

As a water appliance, boilers may leak from time to time. It’s easy to think that a leak here or there is not a big deal, but it really is. Your boiler needs to maintain a precise internal pressure for the best operation. Leaks allow air to get into the boiler system and interfere with operation.

In addition to changing the internal pressure, air getting into your boiler can also cause corrosion. If the inside of your boiler begins to corrode and develop rust, the rust cannot be repaired or reversed. Leaks should always be addressed promptly to prevent additional damage.

Changes in Pressure

Even without a leak, your boiler can experience changes in pressure. Pressure inside of your boiler that is too low can negatively impact operation. But it’s also possible for pressure to be too high, which is very dangerous. If there’s too much pressure building up inside your boiler, it could lead to an explosion.

Your boiler has a pressure gauge and you can check in the manufacturer’s guide to see what the pressure should be for your boiler. If you can’t find it or aren’t sure, you can give our team a call and we can help.

When you understand what the ideal pressure range is, you can check your boiler to make sure the pressure levels are not too high or too low. If they are, our team needs to get down to the root cause of pressure changes and fix it.

Limescale

If your home’s water source has high mineral content, this can lead to limescale buildup inside your boiler. Limescale buildup needs to be cleaned out promptly because if limescale begins to develop, it can create a thick layer that blocks water flow.

You can stay ahead of limescale buildup by scheduling an appointment for our team to flush out your boiler and illuminate the minerals from hard water so they don’t have a chance to develop into limescale. Ideally, we recommend that you get your boiler flushed once each year during your annual maintenance appointment.

Heating Elements

Your boiler doesn’t have too many moving parts. But one of the most common parts to break is the heating element. The heating element can wear down from extended use and need to be replaced. If this happens, don’t fret. It’s a very common boiler repair to make.

We can replace the burned-out heating element and get your boiler working at its best again. It’s easy to identify when your heating element is going out because your boiler will not be able to get your home as warm as it usually does.
